A viral video about Iloilo City featuring its cleanliness and progression towards becoming a “World-class City” circulated around the internet.

The said video was produced and posted by Emirates Loves Philippines Facebook Page. Ilonggos could not help but feel proud of what has become of their city.

Presented by the lovely Josie Conlu, she enthusiastically described the wonders of the city as B-rolls of Iloilo fill the visuals. Josie also spoke in Ilonggo tongue sporadically and she seemed to speak Hiligaynon fluently which added more genuineness and pizzazz to her hosting.

The video stated 5 reasons why Iloilo is considered a wondercity and deserves the title of “Heart of the Philippines”.

1) The cleanest city in Southeast Asia

It’s not just some words put together. In fact, Iloilo City won an ASEAN award and recognition for this.

2) The government and the people worked together on a common goal

Achieving a clean and green Iloilo is only possible with good leadership coupled with the community’s support and cooperation.

3) Heritage Structures and Recreational Parks

Not only beautiful to the eyes, the city also encourages excellent mental health. Iloilo still has beautiful buildings from the Spanish period and encompassed by recreational parks which do wonders for the quality of life of its citizens.

4) World-class Festivals and Beautiful People

5) Aims to become a Smarter, Safer, and more sustainable city

Part of the city’s goals are as follows:

• more public access for Wi-fi and charging stations
• more CCTVs
• better awareness on recycling
• and banning of non-biodegradable plastics.

So these are 5 reasons why Iloilo is considered a great city.
