Top 3 Major Developments in Iloilo City: Head-to-Head
Welcome to the city of tower cranes, Iloilo City.
For resident Ilonggos, these cranes are regarded with pride — taking them as symbols of progress and abundance. For tourists, the prevalent sight of these metal structures gradually building the beautiful concrete jungle is awe-inspiring.
At this rate of urban development, considering Iloilo City as progressive is a total understatement.
Let’s take a closer look at 3 of the most anticipated mixed-use developments in Iloilo City.
1. Iloilo City Center by Gaisano Capital Group
Along B. Aquino Avenue (Diversion Road), a serious construction development is brewing in the east. Unlike other developments of similar scale, Gaisano’s Iloilo City Center is clandestine. As of this writing, the roads through the development are not accessible to the public thus making things a bit discreet. Passing by, you know something amazing is up but you just can’t see it yet.
Quick Facts
Location: B. Aquino Avenue (Diversion Road) Iloilo City, Philippines
Developer: Gaisano Capital Group
Total Land Area: 16 hectares of mixed development (commercial, residential, and offices)

Major Features and Highlights: 40-storey Gaisano Tower, 1K Man-Made Canal De La Reyna (and lake), Paraw-inspired Bridge, Mall and Trade Center
Current Update (as of June 2015): So far, the development is focused on the horizontal. The land is being paved as walkways and roads are taking form. The man-made canal is also taking shape along with the “Paraw” bridge. Not much vertical structure yet but the promise is definitely evident.
2. Atria Park District by Ayala
One of the more visited places in Iloilo today, Atria Park District is a solid development in terms of economic and entertainment value. Taking up most of Donato Pison Avenue, the development is Ayala’s major entry in Mega Iloilo.
Atria Park District is masterplanned to integrate residential, retail and business clusters similar to other developments in the city. But unlike Gaisano’s Iloilo City Center, Atria’s progress is very visible since Brgy. San Rafael is publicly accessible.
Atria already houses a hospital. An educational institution is also within the area.

3. Iloilo Business Park by Megaworld Corporation
Without a doubt, the most anticipated and grandest of all Iloilo City developments is Iloilo Business Park. Megaworld Corporation, the number one township developer in the country, acquired the solid ground of the Old Mandurriao Airport and made it the largest township outside Manila.
The idea is to have a holistic-living community within the city where people can Live-Work-Play-Shop-and-Learn. Apparently, Iloilo Business Park is not shy in its superlatives as it is considered to be the largest, potentially most complete, and best-planned development in Iloilo City.
Iloilo Business Park will have ten BPO-IT companies creating jobs for Ilonggos. It has two world-class hotels and three residential condominium projects (and counting). It has an expansive mall and a 1.1-kilometer dining & retail strip.
South of IBP, a large commercial district with 60 prime lots across 10 blocks was allotted for various investors. This remains an intriguing part of the development as it could potentially house various commercial institutions such as boutique hotels, recreational centers, shops, restaurants, schools, and hospitals.
